In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) really stuck his foot in it after embarrassing daughter Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) in front of her friends.
The doctors prescribed Cathy the pill after she lately sought aid from them for her excessive menstrual bleeding.
She has had assistance from Brenda (Lesley Dunlop), Bernice (Samantha Giles), and Wendy (Susan Cookson) during her experience despite her insistence that she didn’t want dad Bob to know.
But tonight, while Cathy fought to enjoy her 16th birthday party, Brenda at last told him the truth.
Since Cathy was being grounded, Bob had asked that she not throw a party. He eventually gave in, though, and let her invite a few friends around.
When the celebration eventually arrived and hardly anyone showed up, Cathy was upset.
Bob decided to try and cheer Cathy up by apologising for being so harsh on her because he was distressed to see her so dejected.
While her friends all listened in, he told her that he understood why she had been experiencing mood swings and then started talking about her menstruation.
I may not have a uterus, but I know women, he said to show that he understood.
Cathy was rightfully incensed and humiliated by her father’s remarks, so she called the party off early before telling Bob how much she despised him.
Fortunately, Bob and Cathy reconciled by the episode’s conclusion, with Bob pledging that they will get through it.
