Fans of Coronation Street can now exhale in satisfaction as it has been officially announced that Stephen Reid, the terrible killer, will pay for his crimes.

The illegitimate son of Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and Geoff Masters, Stephen (Todd Boyce), has previously made brief appearances in Weatherfield, helping his nephew Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and niece Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) get their start in the business world. However, since June 2022, his true colours have come to light.

Since beginning his longest stay yet on the cobblestones, Stephen’s financial difficulties have caused him to attempt to defraud his mother and Rovers owner Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), before killing her partner Leo.

What will the current villain on Corrie do next, and who might be in danger right now?

Iain MacLeod, the show’s executive producer, made an appearance on Loose Women on Wednesday to respond to viewers’ queries and give a preview of upcoming Coronation Street events.

Denise Welch, a panellist and former Natalie Barnes on Corrie, stated to Iain that viewers had been calling and emailing the show in “record numbers” to ask whether Stephen would receive justice.

Iain chuckled: “Oh, it’s almost like being in a pantomime!” as the studio audience jeered. Is he following me?

He added, assuring viewers that justice was coming: “Of course he is.” Because it’s a soap opera, the villains always get what’s coming to them.

‘So yes, 100%. Between now and then, there will be plenty of fun to be had.

He teased, “As we’re starting to see this week, he’s creating a new feud with one of our most popular characters, a feisty female character Carla (Alison King), so he’s going to go head-to-head with her for a bit, which I think I’m really going to enjoy,” when asked about what was coming up.

There’s still some progress to be made. To put it mildly, he’s going to cause more trouble, but he also guaranteed that ultimately, all villains meet their demise.

As they compete for control of the Underworld factory, Stephen has already begun his scheme to bring Carla down. He has laced her drink with LSD in an effort to cause people to believe that Carla’s psychosis has returned after the episode she had in 2019 following the collapse of the building’s roof.

How much danger would she so be facing?
