In the upcoming episode of EastEnders, Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) will learn some terrible news that will horrify her.
Viewers will be aware that Karen started working at the launderette in 2018 and that Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who acquired it for her from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in 2021, has been her supervisor ever since.
However, as Kat breaks the news that she will have to reduce Karen’s hours, the two will shortly spend less time together.
It is not surprising that Kat needs to tighten her apron strings a little bit more in order to set some money away given how busy things have been for the Slaters.
After sleeping with Ricky Mitchell (Frankie Day) last year, 12-year-old Lily (Lillia Turner) became pregnant, shocking the Slaters.
Despite her young age, Lily has made the difficult decision to retain the baby, and the rest of the family has come together to support her.
However, the Slaters, who are already having financial difficulties, now have another mouth to feed.
They have been severely impacted by the cost-of-living problem, and over the past few days, things have only gotten worse.
The family is in a desperate position as a result of Stacey’s (Lacey Turner) bap van being broken into after Freddie (Bobbie Brazier) left it unlocked and the discovery that the insurance had been cancelled to free up some cash.
Not to mention that Kat still needs to organise her wedding because Phil proposed to her almost a year ago.
Naturally, Karen also has her own family to care for. Additionally, emotions are expected to rise as a result of an impending conflict between Karen and the neighbourhood bad girl Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).
Bernie (Clair Norris), Karen’s daughter, is also worried that her new employment at the café might not last for long.
Will they be able to discover a way to survive?
