Despite rumours that he would be leaving the programme, Qasim Akhtar’s status on the cobbles has been confirmed by Coronation Street.
In scenes that will broadcast this week, the actor who plays Zeedan Nazir will soon leave the show as his character moves to London to start a new life.
Fans had believed that Qasim would be leaving the show permanently, but they now realise that he isn’t really gone and that Zeedan will still appear on the programme.
The departure scenes for Zeedan, in which his sister Alya (Sair Khan) bids him farewell as he departs for London, will air in the upcoming episodes.
Shortly after Marrium, the character’s ex-wife, made a cobbles comeback last week, the character decided to quit the street.
When Marrium returned to the street, she informed Zeedan and Alya that she couldn’t believe they had stood by as her father Hashim died in front of them without doing anything to stop it.
Alya, on the other hand, retaliated by asserting that she and Zeedan share equal responsibility for Hashim’s passing.
In Coronation Street between 2014 and 2018, Zeedan made his debut. Later that year, Qasim quit the programme before making a comeback in 2021.
Meanwhile, Qasim lately talked openly about converting to his Faith.
He wrote earlier this year on Instagram, “I’ve spent the last two years feeding my spirit and starving my desires, and in October I went to a place that once never appealed to me.”
the most holy place on earth for the 2 billion Muslims who live there. truly transformative.
“Don’t misunderstand me, I still suffer; we fight demons every day.” However, I’ve come a long way from the troubled time I was in.
