Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) could be on borrowed time in EastEnders, with the latest offering of the soap hinting at a dark side for the character, which could trigger a sequence of events that lead to his death later this year.

Since making his debut last year, the restaurateur has become one of Walford’s most fascinating and enigmatic characters in a remarkably brief period of time.

Like the viewers, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) has grown rather fond of him. She first captured his attention earlier this year after they briefly bonded over their problems, and Ravi then moved in for a kiss.

The action startled Denise, who pushed him away right away. However, it soon became clear that she was beginning to feel something, and since Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was still being unsupportive, she found herself repeatedly turning to Ravi for comfort.

The couple’s chemistry was intense, and they gave in to temptation by kissing frequently. This week, they decided to meet up in a motel to pursue their relationship further.

Ravi pleaded with Denise to remain at the hotel, but she eventually made the decision that she couldn’t betray Jack in such a way and knocked him back. She then went back to Walford and re-entered Jack’s bed.

Ravi, on the other hand, was left with a broken heart and, after Denise declined his call, he looked intently at her house from across the Square.

The problem is, there was something uncomfortable about the expression on his face, even though it’s completely possible that he was just upset and emotional given what had happened earlier in the evening.

Is it conceivable that the events of Thursday’s (February 23) episode of the show will cause Ravi to turn evil? As his biological father Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) has demonstrated, Ravi doesn’t handle rejection well.

Could Ravi start stalking Denise and not accept no for an answer? The EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw revealed a darker side to Ravi when the character made his début, despite the fact that you might think something like this would be out of the ordinary for the Ravi we’ve come to know over the past year.

At the time, he said, “Ravi is alluring, cunning, and dangerous, and can go from pleasant to menacing with very little notice.”

Not to mention that he willingly allowed Suki to bear the responsibility for Ranveer’s murder, which occurred in the heat of the moment.

Ravi might pass away by Christmas if in the coming weeks something of a dark and sinister character is revealed.

Denise was one of six women who were engaged in the crime, which was revealed in a chilling flash-forward scene earlier this week on the BBC One soap opera.

The identity of the male victim remains unknown, but with Denise having been seen towering over the corpse with a broken bottle in her hand, presumably the murder weapon, could it be Ravi who pays the ultimate price?

Monday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. on BBC One, EastEnders will resume.
