Couple Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) have had a difficult few weeks, but they still have to deal with a terrible obstacle: Zack’s HIV diagnosis, which he still hasn’t disclosed to his partner.
Before, Sam Mitchell’s (Kim Medcalf) counsel helped him get the confidence to approach her, but now that so much is happening, it doesn’t seem like the perfect time is available.
They had to say goodbye to their lost child Peach after learning she wouldn’t live due to having Edward’s Syndrome at birth, and they are presently through a horrific storm.
Both have naturally been going through a lot of sadness since Whitney decided to abort the baby.
Zack has concealed his HIV status the whole time, despite learning from physicians that there is therapy available after first experiencing terror and horror.
Yet, breaking the news to anybody is never simple, particularly in these situations.
Yet, in scenes that will broadcast shortly, Zack is prepared to face the music and have the chat. If he does, how will Whitney respond?
Earlier in the week, James Bye and Letitia Dean’s characters Martin Fowler and Sharon Mitchell are giving Zack advice on how to support Whitney as she is experiencing both physical and mental distress as a result of the recent loss. As Martin describes how Kush and Shabnam planted a tree in honour of their late son, Zaair, Zack is motivated.
Whitney is unable to attend the ceremony that Zack planned. After the wedding, they remain behind to mourn alone, and Zack is happy when she decides to change her mind and show up.
Whitney kisses Zack passionately, and he replies before pulling away. Whitney is distraught, but Zack is now at a loss for words when it comes to breaking the news of his HIV diagnosis.
Sam goes with Zack to his visit and speaks up for Zack by challenging the doctor on when he may have sex and if he can attempt to conceive with a partner.
As Zack returns to Walford, Sam begs him to tell Whitney the truth, so he goes to visit her. But is this the moment when he finally lets Whitney in?
How well will Whitney be able to handle the fresh obstacle they are facing?
