Could Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), who is about to have her plea hearing, be returning to EastEnders before a dramatic trial?
After accusing Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) of drinking and driving earlier in the year, Janine was detained on Boxing Day.
Everything came to a head when Scarlett, her daughter, confessed her misdeeds at Christmas dinner, which prompted Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) to proclaim his love for Linda, his childhood sweetheart.
They then drove after her in pursuit, eventually coming to the precipice of a sheer cliff.
Mick rushed into the vehicle behind Linda and Janine as it sped towards the cliff’s edge.
Linda is devastated since he has been missing at sea ever since.
In following scenes, a saddened Linda will be anxiously awaiting word from her attorney on Janine’s plea deal.
The landlady is scared that Linda will have to confront the wife of her one true love once again if the matter goes to trial, which she fears will happen.
Her friends Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) try to divert her by persuading her to attend the Boxing Den grand opening with them.
Finally coming around, Linda connects with Alfie over their mutual love of boxing.
The diversion is brief, however, as Linda soon learns of an update on Janine.
Is the trial scheduled to begin?
There must be a limit to the amount of anguish Janine can inflict on Linda given her previously stated intention to sell the Vic and perhaps leave her homeless.
