In forthcoming episodes of EastEnders, a major worldwide event invites a well-known star to the show as Eurovision fever sweeps Walford.
Rocky (Brian Conley) decides to go all out to make the celebration something Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) will never forget as she plans a birthday party with a Eurovision theme.
He calls an old acquaintance and crosses his fingers that the unidentified individual will be able to show up.
And she does, despite the fact that it could be her busiest weekend in the show business calendar.
As Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) offers to take the stage to keep everyone entertained, she is stopped in her tracks by none other than Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz who informs her that her services are no longer required.
With the once-heard, always-forgotten smash Making Your Mind Up, Cheryl and her bandmates Bobby G, Jay Aston, and Mike Nolan were crowned Eurovision royalty in 1981.
The news of Cheryl’s participation in Albert Square was made public last month, and photos from that time show her standing next to Kathy, Rocky, Harvey (Ross Boatman), and Jean, who are all wearing the infamously garish outfits Bucks Fizz donned for their winning Eurovision trip.

I was overjoyed to be invited to appear in an EastEnders episode. God forbid, it’s a British tradition! When the news of her appearance broke, Cheryl commented.
As a real-life “EastEnder,” I have adored the programme from the beginning and I can’t stop grinning.
She won’t be the only one as the celebration heats up at the Prince Albert.
