After experiencing mental health issues, Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) has been absent from the Emmerdale village for some time. However, an update on her recovery was recently provided.
A few months ago, the adolescent started having heavy periods and mood swings, and she tried taking medication to regulate them.
Even with this, Cathy’s emotional ups and downs continued to worry her family and friends, prompting Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) and Wendy (Susan Cookson) to investigate what was going on.
It was determined that Cathy could have PDD, or premenstrual dysphoric disorder, which often causes her to feel depressed during her periods.
In an effort to assist, Cathy made the decision to leave the Dales and stay with her brother Scott Windsor in the Lake District.
Tony Audenshaw’s character, Bob, spoke to Samantha Giles’ character, Bernice, about his daughter’s development in yesterday night’s (May 18) episode.

Bob informed Bernice that Scott had persuaded Cathy to try abseiling after saying “she’s doing okay.”
Bernice was there to provide assistance, but Bob was struggling with guilt about not assisting Cathy with her health sooner.
The fact that Cathy would undoubtedly visit the town again in the future may provide Bob with the ideal opportunity to express his emotions over his daughter’s tragedy.
