Following her breakup with co-star Max Bowden, EastEnders actress Shona McGarty has hinted at a potential new relationship.
The actresses Whitney Dean and Ben Mitchell dated for six months before breaking up in October 2022, saying it wasn’t “the right time.”
With photos Shona uploaded on Instagram in August 2022, they appeared to confirm their relationship.
At the House and Classics Festival in Essex, Max was seen holding her by the arm while they both grinned for the camera. Another image captured them making kissing mouths at one another.
The connection, however, did not work out because Max’s life was ‘too difficult’ with a relationship on top of everything else, according to one insider.
There has been a lot going on in Max’s life, and having Shona involved was simply making things too difficult. The insider then told The Sun, “Max will always have a lot of love and respect for Shona, but it’s just not the right time.”
Everyone on set is attempting to keep things as unobtrusive as possible; fortunately, they don’t have many sequences together.
Shona has hinted that a new love interest is coming after the breakup.
She told The Mirror, “I’m speaking to someone right now, but it’s very early days.”
She also disclosed that she and Max are still close friends and that their connection is “better than ever.”
It’s wonderful to be here tonight since Max’s mother, whom I adore and haven’t seen in a long time, is present.
It’s great to catch up with her, so. Actually, we’re doing better than ever. We’re in such a terrific spot as friends.

Shona and Max have both been kept quite busy at work since they have been a part of some of the most significant storylines this year.
When Whitney’s unborn child was found to have Edwards syndrome, she and her partner Zack Hudson (James Farrar) were forced to decide to end the pregnancy.
In heartbreaking circumstances, she gave birth to baby Peach, earning a nomination for Scene of the Year at the British Soap Awards.
After the catastrophe, Whitney and Zack made the decision to go on and started a relationship.
