Being a policeman on EastEnders is difficult, especially if you live on Albert Square like Callum Highway (Tony Clay).
Being a police officer in the most dramatic part of London will entail several conflicts of interest and requests for favours. It’s challenging to manoeuvre through it.
When Callum received a promotion to a detective position in February, he was ecstatic that his career was taking off.
However, it didn’t take long for him to be requested to spy on one of his neighbours, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), whom Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) had been looking into for some time. In fact, it happened on his first day at the new position.
When Callum learned that Jack’s wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and criminal Ravi were involved at the time, Callum was placed in a difficult situation.
Callum clearly did not want to be in this predicament, therefore in following episodes when Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) requests information, he has serious doubts.
In order to learn more about George Knight (Colin Salmon), one of the Queen Vic’s newest inhabitants, Phil urges him to undertake some research.
Linda (Kellie Bright) is concerned about George because she thinks he is a thief who is trying to rob her mother Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) of her money.
Linda is also troubled by Rose, George’s ex-wife, and the mystery surrounding her.
Although Rose abandoned the family years ago and hasn’t been seen since, Linda has noticed that George behaves quite oddly whenever the subject of Rose is brought up. She convinces Phil to do some research since she is concerned about what it might imply for Elaine.
Phil urges his son-in-law to check what information he can find out about George and the missing Rose as Callum has access to the police databases.
Callum is hesitant to get involved since he is aware of the damage it could do to his career if he is discovered to be using the police records for improper purposes.
But Phil is convincing, and Callum complies with his requests.
After finding nothing of interest in the records he searched for about George, he moves on to Rose and instantly encounters a roadblock. All access to Rose’s records is prohibited.
Is Callum approaching a dangerous situation?
