In Emmerdale, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) recently made the decision to rekindle their relationship. However, it hasn’t been simple to establish a relationship where they are more than just best friends.
Of fact, Paddy and Mandy were once romantically involved, but since then, a lot has transpired that has altered both of them.
Paddy has recently been making progress in his recovery from his suicide attempt. Reuniting with Mandy took some time, but after speaking with Bear (Joshua Richards), he realised that he needed to risk falling in love and declared his want to see Mandy once more.
It became clear there was a problem when Mandy and Paddy attempted to prolong their state of ecstasy.
Paddy was found by Marlon (Mark Charnock), who he confided in and shared his anxieties with. He also revealed that the last time he had sex with Mandy was just before he vanished from the hamlet.
Marlon comforted his friend that he is now in a better place and that he experienced a similar situation following his stroke.
Paddy had a bottle of wine with Mandy later that afternoon after the conversation truly boosted his confidence.
Mandy asked Paddy if they could form a covenant after they shared a bed.
Knowing that life may change in an instant, he didn’t want to. He said to Mandy that he desired a life of “freedom,” “no expectations,” and “an intention to do our best.”
Mandy’s final question was whether Paddy was optimistic.
Paddy took a moment to think, and as he did, tears began to gather in his eyes.
His joy had returned.
