We can’t say we’re surprised when Elaine Peacock’s (Harriet Thorpe) Bride Club didn’t quite go as planned in EastEnders.
Between Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), there has been enmity over the years for a variety of reasons, and it appears that Bride Club wasn’t enough to help them put their differences aside.
However, it was more their similarities than their differences that created issues. they all married Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), for example.
In 1995, Kathy became the first bride to wed the Mitchell bad boy following a tumultuous relationship in which he repeatedly cheated on her, notably with Sharon, another member of the Bride Club.
The ‘Sharongate’ scandal, in which Kathy was made aware of Sharon and Phil’s affair during his engagement party, attracted 22 million viewers.
Later, in 2014, Sharon and Phil got married. However, after her romance with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) became public, their marriage ended dramatically.
Since that time, Sharon and Keanu have decided to be married and rekindle their romance, while Phil has found fulfilment with Kat.
Elaine, who has decided to put off her own nuptials to George Knight (Colin Salmon), made a remark about how many frogs Sharon had to kiss before finding her prince charming when they were talking over bridal gown alternatives.

The feisty Slater was ready to shoot back, pointing out that Kathy had kissed that frog as well, when Kathy pointed out that one of those frogs was Kat’s soon-to-be husband.
Sharon finally revealed that Phil was more of a toad after Kathy questioned why she was also calling him a frog, much to Sharon’s amusement.
When Kat retaliated, she said, “I’d rather marry a toad than a tadpole.” Ouch.
The joke, of course, was intended to make fun of Sharon’s age difference from Keanu, who is considerably younger.

However, Kat’s sarcastic remarks didn’t end there. She didn’t hesitate to assert that Sharon’s wedding preparations were behind schedule because she was awaiting Keanu to “finish his potty training.”
Kat rejected one bottle of wine because, in her opinion, it tasted like blackcurrant juice when Elaine started the wine tasting portion of their evening. She argued that it would be more suited to Keanu’s “sippy cup.”
Sharon handed Kat the cup that Kathy had been spitting her wine back into, relishing as Kat took a huge drink. Sharon was eager to get her own back on Kathy.
In the midst of their heated debate, Kat annoyed Sharon by admitting that her only wedding plan was a “half-baked promise from her skint toddler mechanic.”
That was Sharon’s final straw, and she decided that the Bride Club wasn’t for her, leaving Elaine and Kathy shaken by the incident.
Has Kat gone too far with this?
