Rita Tanner and Mavis Wilton from Coronation Street have reunited after 20 years apart, and our hearts couldn’t be happier.
Barbara Knox, who portrays Rita on the ITV soap opera, was photographed on Wednesday at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show in Cheshire with former co-star Thelma Barlow, who plays Mavis.
The Gracious Lady rose was officially introduced by Blue Diamond Garden Centres and its brand, Fryer’s Roses, on behalf of Barbara, with the cobbles icon present.
Fans had the opportunity to see Thelma, 94, who left Coronation Street 26 years ago, in each other’s company once again because she attended the event.
What an occasion.
For 26 years, Thelma portrayed Mavis on Corrie, helping to make her one of the show’s most adored characters. After almost three decades in the part, the actress made the decision to quit, and her final scenes aired in 1997.
Fans of Coronation Street have been waiting for her to come back and reconnect with Kabin boss Rita, and Thelma has previously said that producers have frequently urged her to stage a comeback.
After a single performance in 1964, Barbara began portraying Rita on a regular basis in 1972.
Later this year, the soap icon will turn 90, and to honour the occasion, a special programme is scheduled to run on ITV1 and ITVX.

Barbara will reflect on the high points of her television and theatre careers while speaking with Bradley Walsh, who portrayed Danny Baldwin in the soap opera. She will also provide childhood pictures and personal details about her life that she generally keeps private.
ITV1 and ITVX broadcast Coronation Street at 8 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
