When Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), who has been absent from Walford for the past 15 years as a full-time character, returns, the EastEnders regulars are in for a big surprise.
As viewers are aware, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) frequently brings up Yolande in conversation since he views her as his one true love.
Patrick left the Square for a while earlier this year in an attempt to win Yolande back after being moved to try love, but he later came back on his own and has been mum about what transpired between him and his ex.
But it appears that an explanation will be provided when Yolande shows up in Walford on Monday, August 7, and interrupts Patrick as he is giving love advise on Kim Fox’s (Tameka Empson) most recent vlog.
The former store worker leaves Patrick in awe as she tells that her boyfriend Anton has expelled her and that she would very much like to stay with him.
But when Patrick says he doesn’t believe it’s a good idea, Yolande is crushed and storms away.
After being perplexed by his response, Denise (Diane Parish) pursues Yolande and has a heart-to-heart with her, pleading with her to stay, before shifting her focus to Patrick and trying to figure out why he rejected Yolande.
The proprietor of the salon exhorts Patrick to try love before it’s too late and tells him to show Yolande how much he cares.
Will Patrick follow her suggestions?
Will he stop her from leaving for Birmingham to go back to the man she doesn’t love, or will he allow his one true love to elude him?
Patrick is finally profoundly affected by Denise’s words, and he manages to find Yolande. The two have a heart-to-heart in the laundromat about whether they are one other’s future or just ghosts from their past.
We certainly hope the former!
Six years after her unexpected guest appearance, it was reported earlier this year that Yolande, who starred on EastEnders full-time from 2003 to 2008, was planning a comeback.
On Monday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, one to watch.
