In Coronation Street, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has chosen to give Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) a chance.
Ty’s biological mother is Cassie, who recently told him. Tyrone was understandably startled after learning that his mother had passed away from Evelyn (Maureen Lipman).
Due of Cassie’s drug addiction, which she has had for years, Evelyn decided to keep it a secret from everyone. Cassie chose to go to treatment with her mother as soon as she got in Weatherfield and learned all about Evelyn and Tyrone sharing a home so that she could confront her new family entirely clean.
Being a recovered drug addict is obviously never simple; temptation lurks around every corner, and mistakes can still be made.
This time, it manifests as Cassie becoming wasted while playing gin rummy with Kirk (Andy Whyment) and Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) in a bar. Cassie’s likelihood of wanting to succeed grows as she sips the alcohol, but thankfully, Tyrone notices her and tugs her inside.
Back at No. 9, Tyrone gives Cassie a pint of water and cautions her not to blow it despite his pride in how well she’s doing.
Tyrone gives his mother £20 at the end of the week and instructs her to buy something for supper.
Tyrone returns after a dental appointment worried that Cassie hasn’t yet shown up.
Evelyn tells him to prepare for the worst, but will a drugged-up Cassie show up?
Claire Sweeney remarked, “There’s a lot of fury there.” And it goes back to childhood; it’s not just about Tyrone. Coming up is a scene when she discusses with Tyrone why she is the way she is, about her upbringing, and about her mother, who was very cold, never gave her a hug, and never told her she loved her.
In fact, it was a chilly connection; when she was a teenager, she even ejected the girl. Thus, there is a great deal of animosity. Even though Evelyn is her mother, she still finds it difficult to forgive her for the things she did to her as a child and ultimately as an adult, including continuing to lie about her and leaving Cassie’s baby on the steps of a police station.
Cassie thinks a compromise might have been reached to keep Tyrone in the family. Evelyn returned after that and began enjoying her time as a grandmother without Cassie.
