Congratulations are in order for Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine, who has welcomed her third child.
In scenes that were broadcast in May, the actress who portrays Fiz Stape departed the ITV serial to take maternity leave after learning she was expecting.
The 39-year-old has finally released news of her baby girl’s arrival via a new interview on Monday (August 28), saying that she really gave birth in April but opted to keep it hidden for a little while longer.
When her little bundle of joy was born, she told OK! Magazine, “I’m very conscious of how precious this time is and just how swiftly it passes.” Chaos reigns, though. It was already chaotic, but now it’s even worse!
Jennie confessed to the magazine that picking a name was a “huge talk” she and her husband of six years, Chris Farr, had before settling on Doris.
Doris is a family name, and she said, “I love that it matches with Albert and Hilda.” They’re all extremely “Corrie”-like, too.

Doris Speed was the name of the actress who portrayed the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, so there must be something in my DNA that causes these baby names to keep occurring!
In Jennie’s absence, Corrie temporarily wrote Fiz’s character off the show and sent her to Norfolk.
Fiz accepted Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) offer to work as an Underworld manager after being presented with the chance.

The position required moving away from her family, even though it offered a salary that was double what Fiz was previously making.
Fiz left the cobbles in May as a result of her husband Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) prompt encouragement for her to accept the post.
