As soon as Abi Webster (Sally Carman) encounters Dean, a heroin dealer, she is once more brought back to the painful memories of her horrific past on Coronation Street.
Last year, just after Kevin (Michael Le Vell) learned that Abi had slept with Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo), Dean first came into our lives.
Dean left Abi on a country road after they sped off in a car they had stolen from the garage. When Abi started to feel agony, she contacted 999 and confessed that she was in labor.
After giving birth to baby Alfie, Abi had to demonstrate to social services that she was well enough to care for him and wasn’t in danger of relapsing into drug use before she was granted full custody of him.
A few weeks earlier, Dean returned to the cobblestones and met up with Cassie to confront her about the money she owes him.
Michael (Ryan Russell), who witnessed the attack on Cassie, believed it would be best if Cassie went to A&E for a checkup.
Instead of telling Tyrone (Alan Halsall) the truth and revealing that she had encountered a drug dealer when she returned with a bandage on her arm, Cassie opted to lie, claiming that she had wounded herself while attempting to catch a bus.
Coming up, Tyrone praises Kev for giving her a chance as Cassie arrives at the garage for her first day of work.
Dean, though, approaches as she scrubs the forecourt and demands more drug money.
Cassie tells him she will pay him at the end of the day while keeping things quiet and hisses at him to go out.
Abi, who is seeing the exchange and recognizes Dean, wonders what is going on.
Later, when Cassie pretended to be waiting for a customer while refusing to go for lunch, Abi nipped behind and saw Cassie helping herself to the petty cash.
Later on in the week, after meeting Dean on a street corner, Cassie takes a number of drugs, which sparks further trouble.
Abi is compelled to corroborate that Dean is a drug dealer and that Cassie was caught trying to steal money after Michael reveals how he observed a man roughing up Cassie last week.
Hope (Isabella Flanagan) discovers Cassie sprawled on the sidewalk after taking an overdose as a search is launched.
A call for an ambulance is placed, but will Cassie survive?
