Charli XCX has reacted to the news that Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) and Ricky Mitchell (Frankie Day) in EastEnders have named their child after her, in an amazing turn of events for a Tuesday evening.
In the BBC One soap opera’s episode from Tuesday, September 5, 13-year-old Lily gave birth to her child.
After a spectacular home delivery, Ricky, Charli’s father, accompanied Lily for a checkup at the hospital.
Lily gave Ricky permission to tell their delighted parents their daughter’s name as he held her for the first time.
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was moved when he disclosed that they had named her Charli and enquired as to if it was in honor of her uncle Charlie.
Despite being swiftly corrected by young Ricky, who informed that Charli was actually named after popstar Charli XCX, Stacey soon felt upset about Charli’s name.

Charlie was the grandpa of Zoe and the father of Kat, Little Mo, Lynne, and Belinda Slater. He was frequently annoyed by the girls’ antics, and it was safe to say that they had him in the palm of their tiny hands.
Charlie’s untimely death from a heart attack in 2016—16 years after initially appearing on the show—devastated viewers.
The announcement of Lily and Ricky’s baby’s name went viral on Twitter, and Charli XCX responded to the amazing event tonight.
She tweeted, “Shout out my homosexuals in the writers room!”
