Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) has been fighting tooth and nail to reclaim custody of his granddaughter Peggy ever since Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) abandoned Albert Square with her in tow. However, he is about to suffer a heartbreaking setback in forthcoming EastEnders scenes.
When Keanu learned that Peggy, his daughter, had returned to Albert Square, he was astounded and raced to meet her.
He soon encountered Lisa, who was obviously not forgiving of his affair with Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) when Louise Mitchell was still alive.
Soon after, Lisa started extorting money from Keanu by using his desire to see his daughter as leverage. Later, viewers learned that Lisa had accumulated up a significant amount of debt and needed the money to support her gambling habit.
As Lisa’s deceptions came to light, Keanu resorted to extreme means to win custody of Peggy, even going so far as to steal their passports to prevent Lisa from taking her abroad.
In the end, Sharon was the one who assisted Lisa in escaping, and their friendship deteriorated after Keanu learned of Sharon’s treachery.
Later, he was devastated to learn that if he wanted to have any chance of getting Peggy back, he would have to fight through Portuguese courts, a process that would not only take years and be very expensive, but also be unlikely to result in a favorable decision given that he had been away for the first three years of Peggy’s life.
His best course of action, according to former attorney Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), was to speak with Lisa personally, but when she ignored his calls, Keanu resorted to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for assistance.
Unexpectedly, Phil sided with Lisa in this dispute, refusing to take Peggy away from Louise, and vowed to Keanu that he would never again see Peggy.
In forthcoming episodes, Keanu will experience additional setbacks in his hunt when he obtains an injunction from Lisa’s attorney.
He is beyond incensed and more determined than ever to get his daughter back.
But just when it seems increasingly unlikely, something completely unexpected may happen.
Is Keanu’s fight for custody of his children finally over, or may things go his way?
