In an interview, Scott Mitchell discussed his relationship with EastEnders actress Tayna Franks.
After a protracted struggle with Alzheimer’s, the 60-year-old widower of late Albert Square legend Dame Barbara Windsor has found love once more, three years after his wife’s passing.
The new pair, who first met when they ran the marathon in 2019 to raise money for Dame Barbara’s Alzheimer’s Research UK, got engaged over the summer.
He appeared on Monday’s broadcast of This Morning and said, “We met the first year that we did the marathon,” according to hosts Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary.
It is a pretty humorous thing. When it comes to talking about their personal lives, these two women are diametrically opposed to one another, and I could not have chosen two more disparate women.
He called her “an incredible lady,” but Scott wants to “respect” her wish to keep the details of her private relationships private.
Barbara would have given you a three-hour interview if she had sneezed at 11 o’clock, he said. Tanya is a wonderful woman, but she feels that discussing her personal relationships is not appropriate.

From 2000 until her passing in 2020, Peggy Mitchell and Scott were married.
In 2019, 2021, and 2023, Scott, Tanya, and the rest of the EastEnders ensemble participated in marathon training.
Although Scott keeps their relationship a secret, he did talk about how close they are earlier this year.
Life is currently feeling extremely nice, and we are having some great time together, he remarked.
Barbara’s friends and family are pleased that Scott has found love once more, a source close to them previously told The Sun.
The EastEnders actress quit her job as Rainie last year after she and husband Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) reconciled. Roland, who is Bernie’s (Clair Norris) biological son, and she decided to start a new life somewhere.
