Since the passing of his devoted wife Lola in EastEnders, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has struggled to cope. But he might soon be on the verge of finding new love in an unexpected area.
Jay was distraught when Lola unexpectedly lost her battle with a brain tumor earlier this year following a year-long struggle.
Even though she has left behind some special recordings to help her family remember her, Jay more than most feels the loss of her more than anybody else.
In recent instances, he has responded to her as if she is still present while sobbing while watching her recordings.
He will fight on in the following moments, but there might be hope in the distance.
Inability to fall asleep due to his anguish causes Jay to spend the night strolling through London. He runs into Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix) as he enters Albert Square and is cheered by her companionship.
Jay apologizes to her the following day for leaving her without warning the previous evening and offers to take her to The Albert for a drink.
The two are able to set their disagreement aside and have a good time together, but soon Nadine wants to go farther.
He accepts her invitation to return to her place, where she makes an effort to entice him.
Jay declines her overtures since he is still mourning the loss of his true love.
Jay fears being seen with Nadine when she later returns to the Square.
After Lola’s passing, can he allow himself to move on or will he keep pushing Nadine away?
