It takes a courageous individual to try to stand up to Kim Tate (Claire King) on Emmerdale since she is a woman who is used to getting things her own way.

Kim probably wouldn’t describe Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) as courageous. Kim would not respond to Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) breaking their engagement the way she is doing right now.

On their wedding day, Nicky revealed to Gabby that he was gay and that the entire engagement had been a ruse to assist his dad Caleb (William Ash) achieve his goal of acquiring the Kim Tate empire.

Nicky and Caleb have since adapted to rural life. Finally welcomed into the Dingle household, Caleb has even drank from the ceremonial welly. The chef Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), with whom Nicky has a new relationship, and Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and perhaps Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) are planning to launch a commercial venture together.

Gabby is angry and upset about everything. She is still haunted by Nicky’s humiliation, and seeing him and Caleb in the village is a terrible torment for her. Gabby has determined that leaving the Dales is her only option, despite Kim’s advice to face the music, which is exactly what Kim would do with some payback tossed in for good measure.

Naturally, she would have to bring Thomas along. Kim could probably handle losing Gabby, but she is disappointed that she won’t get to watch her grandchild grow up in the community.

In the episode that aired on Monday, September 11, Gabby continued to push for the sale of HOP, explaining to Suni and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) that the goal was to “grow up the firm until I can pay out to the highest and fastest bidder.”

Gabby’s continued insistence on selling enraged Kim. She told her, “I thought I’d helped you see sense.” “It’s beyond selfish, even for you, to put your personal hurt before the needs of your child.”

Kim was being “a little bit nasty,” according to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), who was sitting next to Thomas.

Kim retorted, “Losing my grandchild is cruel,” and she assured Gabby that she wouldn’t just let Thomas go.

Don’t force me to involve attorneys in this, she pleaded.

Although Gabby was completely unfazed, Laurel was in disbelief. Do it, she said. Any attorney would tell you that because he is my son, I have the final say. Kim, you no longer have any control over me.

Maybe Gabby is brave after all, I suppose. Most people probably wouldn’t consider confronting Kim Tate with such a strong response.

Will Kim be forced to give in and let Thomas leave, or does she have another plan in mind?
