Ellie Leach, a former Coronation Street actress, will take on an exciting new challenge as she competes in the most recent season of Strictly Come Dancing.
Just a few months after leaving Weatherfield as Faye Windass, Ellie is poised to gain a whole new following as she participates in the renowned ballroom competition on BBC One.
Fans of Corrie saw Ellie develop on film, but Strictly viewers who are unfamiliar with the drama on the cobblestones may wish to catch up.
Here is a brief overview of Ellie that will answer all of your questions.
Who is Ellie Leach?
In March 2001, Ellie was born in Bury, Greater Manchester. She rose to stardom as a child actor, appearing in TV commercials for brands like McDonald’s and Staples.
Roles in the 2009 movie A Boy Called Dad and an episode of BBC One’s Moving On were among other early TV appearances.
At the age of 9, Ellie joined the Coronation Street cast as Faye Butler (formerly Faye Windass). When seasoned regulars Anna and Eddie Windass chose to adopt her, Faye was first seen.
Ellie already had a connection to Corrie before she appeared on the program since Brooke Vincent, who portrayed Sophie Webster, is her actual cousin.
Ellie’s persona In 2014, Faye took part in a significant plot line in which the disturbed adolescent discovered she was pregnant at the age of 12. Miley, the girl Faye gave birth to, was reared by her father Jackson and his parents.
Ellie was able to move into increasingly larger stories as time went on and she became a full-time, adult cast member of Corrie since she grew up on the show and her part wasn’t replaced.
These included the evil Ray Crosby sexually assaulting Faye and her involvement in a vehicle accident that claimed the life of an elderly man.
Faye was also informed in 2022 that she was experiencing an early menopause, which may have contributed to her decision to start talking to Miley again once she moved back to Weatherfield.
News that Ellie was departing Coronation Street as Faye after 12 years emerged in April 2023.
When her final moments in the soap opera aired, Ellie reflected on her time there and said, “Getting to work with your best friends all the time is simply amazing. I have genuinely enjoyed working with these individuals.
Not just the characters, but the staff and everyone else who worked on Coronation Street are outstanding. Everyone is a fantastic person, and I will truly miss each and every one of them.
It’s been an upheaval. Faye had an extremely difficult existence. She has gone through a lot. However, it has been the finest experience of my life. Starting at age 9, I’ve been doing it for the majority of my life—more than half of my life—and I’m now 22 years old. It’s been insane, but I’ve truly, truly enjoyed every second of it.
What are the details of Ellie’s Strictly role?
Vito Coppola will be Ellie’s professional partner on Strictly Come Dancing, where she will compete.
The two will dance a jive to Zara Larsson’s “Can’t Tame Her” during the first live performance.
Ellie said lately, “I’ve always wanted to do Strictly, always! I’ve been enamored with dancing and watching dance ever since I was a small child. I’m not trained, however I used to perform tap and ballet when I was younger.
“I believe it’s fantastic to have a fresh experience and do something that I have never done before,” says the person who just left Coronation Street.
She was asked what the hardest part was, and she responded, “I guess for me maybe the live component just because I’ve never done it before. Obviously, Coronation Street is pre-recorded, so the live setting is a little unsettling to me, but I’m eager anyway. I’m eager to experience it since, once again, it’s something new.
