During a conversation with us at the 2018 Inside Soap Awards, Channique Sterling-Brown of Coronation Street hinted what Dee-Dee Bailey may expect going forward.
The actress, whose first scenes debuted last year, was ecstatic to collect the Best Newcomer award at the ceremony.
I’m extremely appreciative!” she exclaimed.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I was not expecting to walk away with this when you joined the cast the same year as Jodie Prenger [who portrays Glenda Shuttleworth]! It means a lot to me, and I appreciate it greatly.
Dee-Dee has spent the most of her time since moving into Weatherfield assisting other locals. Dee-Dee’s first plot was showing that Stu (Bill Fellows) had been wrongfully convicted of murder, but more recently, she took center stage with her own plot.

A few weeks ago, the recognizable figure got to know Joel (Calum Lill), a duty solicitor. She and he both saw one other right away, but Dee-Dee’s inability to accept cues forced Adam (Sam Robertson) to intervene and arrange a date for the two.
Channique spoke on what Dee-Dee may expect as their relationship progresses and added of Joel, who portrays Calum Lill, “He’s amazing and we’re having a lot of fun getting to know each other and getting to know the characters.”

We’re going to see Dee-Dee in a little bit of a different light, and I think that’s very enjoyable for me to explore as an actor. Hopefully the audience will appreciate it, and it’s good to have a little bit of happiness and love, really!
She continued, reflecting on her time on the program thus far:
I adore doing business with the Baileys. I enjoy teasing and annoying my siblings, I love working on the MND storyline, and I’m really looking forward to Billy and Paul’s wedding. I also really enjoyed the Sarah/Damon affair storyline, and working with Tina, Sam, and Ciaran [Griffiths] was wonderful; we had a lot of fun together.
