This next week on Coronation Street, Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) will have a shock when he discovers Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) secret…on their wedding day.
A few months ago, Billy and Paul decided they would wed. Although it has been fun to arrange the big occasion, Billy’s loved ones are all aware of how much he wants to get married in a church.
Billy and Paul regrettably cannot do this since it is illegal for same-sex couples to get married in a Church of England.
Coming up, in the cafe, Billy is waiting with his heart full of love as Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) lead Paul down the aisle.
The registrar marries Billy and Paul after they exchange vows, but Billy is surprised to learn that Paul has been withholding something from him since the wedding.
What is it then?
We are aware that one of Paul’s secrets is that he has requested Todd (Gareth Pierce) to assist him in carrying out the deed because he wants to pick when he passes away.
Billy doesn’t yet know this, but is this the day he does?
Or is Paul concealing something else?
Regarding Paul’s MND plot, Peter Ash commented, “I believe the reactions we’ve gotten have been above and above anything I ever expected.”
It’s been really beautiful. People who have MND or who have family members who have the disease send us messages expressing how certain parts of the tale truly hit home for them.
Sincerity be damned, if via this plot we can generate a little bit of awareness and a little bit of cash for the cause, then that’s a job well done in my book.
