Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam), the biological father of Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), makes his first trip to the Dales.
Fans will recall that Jai found out earlier this year that Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel), who he thought was his father all those years ago, was not.
The businessman, who had a falling out with Rishi over maintaining such a secret, was completely taken aback by the news. Tragically, Rishi later passed away.
While Amit will make his debut in forthcoming scenes, the actor portraying him is not a new name to viewers of the soap opera because he most recently portrayed a legendary EastEnders villain.
Amit Sharma: Who is he?
Jai believed his father to be Rishi Sharma, Amit’s brother, until very recently. He was very astonished to learn that Rishi had adopted him, and this led to a schism with Rishi that had disastrous repercussions.
When Rishi had an accident at home and passed away, he was getting ready to attend Jai’s wedding to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and make peace with the guy he’d always thought of as his son. At the foot of the steps, when Jai saw him dead, he tragically realized he would never be able to tell Rishi how much he genuinely loved him.

Rishi earlier revealed to Jai that his biological father was Amit, a man who had an affair with Jai’s mother Georgia (Lin Blakley). Amit has been residing in India, but his son Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), who just relocated to Emmerdale and is dating Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope), has been working as a cook at the Hide.
Jai and Suni have lately gotten into conflict since Suni doesn’t know that Jai is his brother and not his cousin. When Amit arrives in the community, everything is about to change.
Exactly who is Amit Sharma?
Anil Goutam, an actor who has starred in several different TV roles, including cameos on Casualty and the medical drama This Is Going To Hurt, plays Amit.

However, because he portrayed Ranveer Gulati on EastEnders, he is a fairly well-known face indeed.
The unsettling businessman Ranveer tried to rape Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), but she smacked him in the head during the battle. Suki had previously assumed that she had murdered Ranveer, but she was unaware that Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), who had just arrived, had really dealt the fatal blow while Ranveer was still alive.
Suki thought she was guilty and that Ravi had shielded her after Ravi had disposed of Ranveer’s body.
Recently, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) discovered a video that proved what really occurred, but due to Ravi’s threats, Suki has been unable to use this evidence to convict the person who killed Ranveer. As a result, she watched her son Kheerat (Jaz Singh Deol), who took responsibility for the crime in order to protect his mother, go to prison.
How would you characterize Amit Sharma?
Anil Goutam said his Emmerdale role as “complex,” with layers that are only gradually revealed.
He implied, “You wouldn’t know he’s this person when you first met him.” There is a darker side, and it’s always fun for actors to delve into a shadowy area. But if it were just written that way, I doubt it would be very entertaining since it would just be a caricature. It’s not written that way; it’s written as if the author were a complex person.
He has a more sinister side. but not, in my opinion, in his own head. He does what he does, in his own eyes, to defend his family. But it’s what he feels is necessary to do in order to protect his family, and I believe he is capable of persuading himself that practically anything would be the proper thing to do.
