In order to cope with his grief at Lola’s terrible EastEnders passing, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has turned to ketamine.

Jay had been paying escort Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix) to sleep next to him since, before he found the drug, he realized he needed someone to sleep close to him.

It wasn’t long until he accepted her offer after discovering that Nadine had been using ketamine to keep her quiet. By trying it, he would be able to spend the night in his own bed.

However, in more recent scenes, Callum Highway (Tony Clay) felt that he needed a wake-up call after discovering his drug usage, which led to him being detained.

In subsequent scenes, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) will find himself furious with his spouse Callum after learning of Jay’s arrest, but Jay will quickly step in and claim that it was merely cannabis that he was carrying.

Despite his encounter with the police, Jay continues to believe that drugs are a good way to help him survive and asks Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) for information about drug traffickers.

She declines to provide him with any information and later confides in Ben at the Albert her worries about Jay.

When Billy (Perry Fenwick) considers dispersing Lola’s ashes the next day and launches into a monologue about how everyone else has gone on but he is still mired in his grief, Jay is shocked.

After his outburst, Jay immediately turns to alcohol, and anxious Honey (Emma Barton) initiates a touching dialogue with him about loss.

After their discussion, Jay leaves to visit Nadine, who believes he is only there to acquire drugs.

The next day, Jay is overcome with regret and quickly comes under attack by Ben, who threatens to have him evicted from the apartment if he doesn’t stop doing narcotics.

When Nadine later shows up at the Vic, Jay makes a vow to Ben that he would make an effort to behave better, but things quickly go worse for the guilty Jay.
