Sue Cleaver, a star of Coronation Street, will join the cast of a beloved musical next year and play a totally different sort of character.
In Sister Act: The Musical, which will tour the UK in 2019, the actress who portrays Eileen Grimshaw in the ITV soap opera will switch the pavement for the stage.
Fans were unable to contain their enthusiasm when it was revealed that Sue will play Mother Superior at a few venues.
One admirer commented, “OMG this is fantastic,” and another, “Congratulations Sue.”
However, the news didn’t only excite fans; Ryan Thomas, who portrayed Sue’s on-screen son in Corrie, wrote: “Can I come,” and Charlie Condou, who played Marcus Dent, added, “Can’t wait for this.”
Sue, on the other hand, spoke out right once, declaring: “I’m pleased to be getting into the habit and joining the amazing company of Sister Act on tour.”
“I haven’t performed on stage in well than 30 years, but theater has always been my first passion.” The opportunity to play such a part seems like bliss.
The 59-year-old recently flaunted her new appearance in photos while praising makeup artist Bryony Blake for her metamorphosis. She was wearing a pink suit.
She posted on social media, saying, “What a delight to get my make up done by the really brilliant @bryony_blake.” Thanks a lot!
Sue received encouragement from her fellow Cobbles cast members. Leanne Battersby’s character, played by Jane Danson, wrote: “You look wonderful Sue!”
George Shuttleworth’s love interest on the soap, Tony Maudsley, commented: “George’s pink woman,” adding a heart-eye emoji, and former Corrie actor Nicola Thorp added: “Bloody GORG.”
