In Coronation Street, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) makes a tiny error that can put Michael (Ryan Russell) in jail as he reverts to his old gambling habits.
Soon after starting a business venture with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), Ed started to feel increasingly pressured to start gambling once more.
Sadly for Ed, the addiction has taken hold because he will use Michael’s £1,000 to put a wager on a horse next week despite being well aware of the difficulty he may get himself into.
Following the horse’s victory, Ed leaves for home and hides the money in a bag in the hallway from Michael and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).
Later, Michael takes the bag without knowing what is inside and goes to Underworld to try to get his job back.
However, when he arrives, DS Swain (Vicky Myers) informs him that he must respond to certain inquiries regarding Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) theft of funds from the plant.
After responding to the questions, Michael opens his backpack and is shocked to see a sizable amount of cash.
Ed is shocked to watch Michael being driven away by police after DS Swain discovers the money on the grounds that he conspired with Stephen to swindle Underworld.

Later on in the week, when Ronnie queries Ed about the friend who gave him the loan, Ed becomes irritated.
Ronnie approaches Ed and demands the truth, wondering whether he has been gambling for a longer period of time than he is admitting.
Ed acknowledges that he had a victory at the races, but he vows that this is the last time he will gamble.
But is he being honest?
What does this mean for Michael, who was detained as a result of Ed’s actions?
