Recent episodes of Coronation Street saw the end of Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce)’s reign of serial murdering horror as he had his just desserts during Super Soap Week.

He attempted to steal all of his mother Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) money while also killing Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin), and Rufus Donohue (Steven Meo). He also drugged Carla Connor (Alison King).

Landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) of Rovers nearly escaped being his fourth victim, but he met an unexpected and horrific end while trying to flee.

The death of Stephen Reid is expected to have significant repercussions for some of Weatherfield’s inhabitants. But how did Stephen Reid pass away, and what has transpired since? Audrey has recently been spotted attempting to plan his burial.

In Coronation Street, how did Stephen Reid pass away?
After being struck by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in his car, Stephen Reid passed away on Coronation Street.

The horrific incident occurred when Stephen, who was desperate, kidnapped Jenny and forced David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to provide him a getaway car while holding Jenny hostage on the street.

He kept panicking despite Audrey and others pleading with him to calm down as everyone realized the truth about his homicidal behavior.

After being struck by Peter Barlow’s vehicle, Stephen was left to perish (ITV).

At the same time, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) pleaded with him to clarify the location of Tim (Joe Duttine), who had suffered a brutal attack at the hands of Stephen and had been left for dead inside a vehicle trunk.

However, the drama peaked when Peter hurried back to Weatherfield after failing to find Stephen at the airport despite his attempts to elude capture by leaving for Thailand.

Peter drove into Stephen as he got close to the car he planned to flee in, sending Stephen tumbling onto the cobblestones.

He soon died away, leaving Peter shocked that he had killed someone, Audrey upset, Sally unsure of Tim’s location.

While Stephen may be dead, the effects of his passing are expected to be felt by a variety of characters. Audrey will have to cope with what her son did, Tim will have to deal with the fallout from his experience, and Peter will, of course, have to deal with killing Stephen.

Actor Chris Gascoyne recently announced his plan to leave the program, saying, “He has just killed someone so there are so many stories that can come out of that and so many reasons that he could not be around any more.”

All I’ll say is that I’m thrilled with my exit tale, the scripts are excellent, and I can’t wait to see how Peter leaves the street is received.

Peter is a person who struggles much with himself. The fact that he killed someone doesn’t matter how it happened in the end.

On Wednesday, ITV1 will air a new episode of Coronation Street at 8 p.m.
