Because Sunil (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) hurriedly spilled the beans to lover Nicky (Lewis Cope) in Emmerdale, Amit (Anil Goutam) made the fatal error of admitting to his kid that he was present when his brother Rishi (Bhasker Patel) passed away.
Amit had disclosed that after an argument, he had witnessed Rishi go down the stairs. He left Rishi there, believing Amit to have perished quickly.
This so worried Suni that he hurried to Nicky right away and told him everything.
After Amit expressed his disapproval of his son’s relationship, Nicky confronted him and provoked him by revealing his dark secret, which put Amit in a difficult situation. Amit gave him a knee-jerk reaction.
Now, trying to explain Nicky’s black eye without stating ‘it was because he mocked me about the fact I left my brother for dead’ was a tough one, and the way Nicky opted to explain it away was by claiming Amit is a violent homophobe. Still, better than the reality, can’t it?

Now that Amit is in the heart of the Woolpack, the villagers think he’s a racist moron, and Caleb (Will Ash) even calls him such.
The truth has not been revealed by Nicky or Suni, but it has now reached Jai (Chris Bisson) and Laurel (Charlotte Belamy). It is Tracy (Amy Walsh) who informs the startled couple that Amit attacked Nicky because he is homosexual. Out of disgust, Laurel and Jai decide hastily that Amit must leave their life.
They want Colin to stay as far away from them as possible since they have had enough of his homophobia and don’t have time for it in their life.
Will Jai discover the truth about his father’s whereabouts, or will Amit accept this new destiny and allow them to keep believing the lie?
