In recent episodes on Coronation Street, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has been dissatisfied by his spouse Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) unwillingness to have sex. Plans to rectify this were derailed when Paul received a sad news on his prognosis.

When Paul confided in David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) over breakfast at the café regarding Billy’s present intimacy issues, David disclosed that he had been the same when his wife Shona (Julia Goulding) had a brain injury.

He said that it seemed like he would be taking advantage of Paul, but David told him to speak with Billy when Paul stated it was what he wanted.

Before they could speak, Paul and his mother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) went to the hospital, where Paul’s MND expert was eager to do some tests because of his recent cough.

Billy was able to attend the appointment shortly after, and the expert informed him that she could expedite Paul’s PIP application by sending over a paperwork.

Paul recognized the form she was filling out from something he had read online, and when she told him what it was, he explained that it was often used for patients with six to twelve months to live.

The expert clarified that things weren’t clear-cut, but she also delivered the terrible news—that they thought Paul would have departed for this amount of time, leaving Bernie, Billy, and him in total shock.

Paul brought up the topic of sex with Billy again when they got home, still reeling from their hospital visit. Billy inquired whether Paul was sure after hearing the news, to which Paul replied that he wanted to make the most of their remaining time together.

But when Billy subsequently attempted to assist Paul in getting out of the water and ended up hurting his back, things became worse.

The two were forced to contact Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) for assistance after becoming stranded in the restroom, and he quickly arrived to save the day alongside Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges).

Despite the fact that their passionate evening didn’t exactly go as planned, Billy and Paul were obviously determined to make the most of their remaining time together after Paul received the devastating news.
