Is Coronation Street’s Eileen Grimshaw going to leave? What we know is as follows:

Do Eileen and Corrie part ways? (Image: ITV)

Since 2000, Sue Cleaver’s character Eileen Grimshaw has been a mainstay on Coronation Street.

She has been the focus of several high-profile plots during her time on the cobbles, one of which saw her wed serial killer Pat Phelan.

Fortunately, her life has somewhat calmed down now—at least, as calm as life on Coronation Street can get.

More recently, when partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) asked her to take over for Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), who had left the company, she told him that she would make a terrible undertaker because she lacks empathy and compassion.

Is Eileen Grimshaw leaving Coronation Street?

While Eileen is not set to permanently leave Coronation Street, she will likely be missing on our screens over the coming weeks.

Actress Sue Cleaver is set to take a break from her role as Eileen Grimshaw to embark on a new project, but fear not, as Eileen will be coming back.

Sue has been cast in the upcoming tour of Sister Act: The Musical, where she will be taking on the role of Mother Superior at select venues.

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the habit and joining the incredible company of Sister Act on tour,” Sue said, speaking about her new role.

Although I haven’t performed on stage in over 30 years, theater has always been my first love. It is like heaven to have the opportunity to play a role like this.

Based on the movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act: The Musical was created. It centers on musician Deloris Van Cartier, who happens to witness a homicide.

Deloris enters a convent while under protective custody and makes the decision to assist her fellow sisters in finding their voices.

We have a great time together as a family with this. It’s enjoyable, uplifting, and incredibly approachable. Indeed, Sue remarked, “Everyone could use a little Sister Act in their lives.”

The return date of Eileen to the screen is unknown at this time, but hopefully it won’t be too long.
