Rumors of a reunion between Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden and his ex-costar and girlfriend Charley Webb began to circulate.

The two got together on the Emmerdale set, and in 2009, Matthew, then 43, asked the 35-year-old to marry him.

For the couple, it hasn’t been an easy ride, though. A representative for the couple announced their split in 2013, saying, “Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have today confirmed they have separated.”

In 2015, Matthew told the Mirror, “It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart.” They reconciled.

Fans have since noticed, though, that the soap opera star has resumed her relationship with her husband of fifteen years. Buster, who is twelve, Bowie, who is six, and Ace, who is three, are his children.

It has also been noted that, in spite of this provocative action, he hasn’t posted about her or left a comment on any of her recent photos in over a year.

This comes after The Sun revealed that Matthew, who played David Metcalfe on Emmerdale for eighteen years, recently unfollowed his wife on Instagram.

“When Charlie and Matthew first started dating, they were in very different places in their lives,” an insider stated.

“Now that they have three children and are juggling new careers, everything has changed and maybe they are not the same unit they once were.”

In an emotional segment on a recent episode of Loose Women, Matthew revealed that leaving Emmerdale was especially tough. “It was so emotional to say goodbye, particularly to Joe-Warren [Plant], who plays Jacob; he’s grown up with me,” he said.

Currently, he is portraying Buddy the Elf in the most recent musical revival, which is based on the Will Ferrell-starring 2003 picture.

After leaving Emmerdale, Charley secured a part in the police drama The Long Shadow on ITV, which is currently airing. The show dramatizes the five-year manhunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, also referred to as the Yorkshire Ripper.
