Laura Shaw, the soap opera’s producer, says that Emmerdale will launch into a spectacular 2024.
Producer Laura Shaw of Emmerdale has teased what could happen in the New Year, revealing that two of the village’s “most-loved” families will be torn apart.
At a recent press conference on set, Laura Shaw, an Emmerdale producer, hinted at 2024 storylines with Express.co.uk and other media, ominously predicting tragedy would strike.
“In January, there’s going to be a tragedy in the village that will affect two of our most beloved families,” teased Laura.
“In the end, it will sever friendships and permanently alter the dynamics of one of those families.”
She remained silent, though, regarding the families that would be a part of the drama.
Could the Dingles be one family affected by tragedy given the large number of Dingles in the village?
With two of Emmerdale’s most intense plotlines currently airing, the Dingles are always at the center of the show.
One has Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) reconciling with Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) following his breakup with her in favor of Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland).
Will the dysfunctional couple’s story end in tears once more, or will they finally have their happily ever after?
The other is the terrifying rape storyline of Karen Blick’s Lydia Dingle, which aired on television in September.
Fans will remember that after Lydia was attacked by Craig Reed (Ben Addis), Lydia’s husband Sam Dingle (James Hooton) viciously beat him up and left him for dead.
However, after the businesswoman discovered the battered and bruised rapist while on a hack, it was Kim Tate’s (Claire King) horse that ultimately put an end to Craig.
Laura from Emmerdale has also hinted at a major plot for Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) in the upcoming months.
She said, “Chas has a big story coming up in the new year that will shock all of her family, friends, and the villagers around her.”
“We are aware that Aaron and her relationship is currently quite strained and that Aaron is actively pushing his mother away.”
Since making a comeback to the soap opera earlier this year, Chas’ son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) has been at odds with Cain.
“Maybe this is the tale that unites those two and forges new bonds between a mother and son,” Laura said in her conclusion. We will discover all of that in the upcoming year.”
Weeknights at 7.30 p.m. on ITV and ITVX, Emmerdale airs.
