In an episode of EastEnders, Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) informed Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that his daughter Jade was admitted to a local hospital.
Jade, the daughter of Dean and Shabnam Masood, suffers from cystic fibrosis. This next week, she plans to visit her brother Zaair’s cemetery when she returns to Walford.
Later, when Linda shows up to confront Dean about a photo of him and Ollie, Jade is in the Beale’s Eels grotto.
Keanu (Danny Walters) tells Jade that her father is a sexual predator when they are arguing. Jade is understandably shocked and walks away.
When the hospital calls Dean in the new week to provide an update on Jade’s transplant, he is taken aback.
Unfortunately, it has to be postponed, so Dean goes to the bar to forget his disappointment.
There, he has a discussion on forgiveness with Rocky (Brian Conley) and gains some food for thought. But what will this lead Dean to do?
Matt Di Angelo recently updated us on Dean’s whereabouts in the run-up to Christmas, saying, “Dean is very much back in the Square now trying to make his business work and take care of his ill kid.” He is making every effort to fit in with the community.
“Dean very much feels he’s innocent – he honestly believes that so he is astonished that people who did believe him previously, suddenly don’t,” Matt said, speaking about Dean’s mentality following his 2014 rape of Linda.
He must cope with it, and when he discovers that Walford residents are supporting Linda, he tries to persuade them to reconsider.
“He needs his life in Walford to work; he doesn’t have an other option.”
