Future scenes on EastEnders will reveal Rocky Cotton’s (Brian Conley) significant secret, perhaps jeopardizing his future with wife Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Rocky was forced to agree to persuade Kathy to sell him her cherished café after incurring significant debt from Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), or else he ran the chance of her discovering the truth about the fire.

As part of an insurance scheme, Rocky set fire to the café, but when Peter Beale (Thomas Law) was placed on life support and Kathy was taken into custody, everything went terribly wrong.

After determining who was actually responsible, Nish assured Rocky that he would pay off his obligations and remain silent about his involvement—as long as he could get Kathy to sell him the café at a discounted price.

Actor Brian Conley disclosed that Rocky is “devastated that he’s brought this all on himself” before to disclosing his greatest secret.

He definitely shouldn’t have gone to Nish to beg for a loan; what did he ever expect? He only has himself to blame. The fact that it’s Christmas makes things more worse.

“I believe that times like this really do intensify around the Christmas season when everyone is happy and hopeful. He is simply heartbroken about the entire situation, and even though he makes an effort to stay upbeat, I don’t think he can see a way out.”

Kathy would eventually consent to sell to Nish in later scenes, but he breaks his word by hinting to the matriarch that Rocky was involved in the fire.

Terrified, Kathy seeks clarification from Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) and then confronts Rocky after his closest buddy almost admits that he was involved.

“It’s clear that Kathy has endured a great deal since the wedding,” Brian said. He strives to constantly be upbeat and hopeful about the future, but I believe that deep down he understands that asking her to forgive him will be a very difficult request.

Goodwill to all men notwithstanding, it’s always possible that, at Christmastime, the enchanted fairy may appear and restore things to normal, but I find it highly improbable.

The fact that it’s Christmas doesn’t mean that Kathy won’t find it in her heart to forgive him; in fact, he’ll have to work really hard to regain her trust. Because of how deeply they love one another and how powerful their love is, she has already forgiven him.

Rocky believed that this was the only way to get out of their debt, therefore he tried everything to try to improve the situation. He always did it out of love for Kathy and a desire to set things right in the hopes that she would eventually see through his lies and understand what he was attempting to do. But we’ll have to wait and see because he burned down her caff.

Even though Christmas is a season of forgiveness, Kathy is one of the six ladies who, on Christmas Day, we all know won’t be feeling very forgiving.

A Christmas Day murder was hinted at in a February flashforward scenario when The Six were gathering over a man’s body.

But may Rocky be the one wearing the infamous cufflinks?

It’s conceivable. He may be, or it might be someone else.
