On Emmerdale, Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) is still having difficulty accepting his Parkinson’s diagnosis. Despite Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker)’s best efforts, he hasn’t been able to get himself to join a support group.
In the footage from Tuesday, December 12, the episode, poor Eric is feeling quite depressed after this shock, and in the Monday, December 11 show, he believes that his symptoms are likely to grow worse much sooner than he’d planned.
Eric bemoans the possibility that “everything” may end for him as Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) tries to put them both in the holiday spirit at the cafe by putting on Santa hats. Brenda advises him not to begin obsessing over things and speculates that perhaps the tremor was unrelated to the Parkinson’s diagnosis.
However, Pollard is not easily persuaded and maintains that must be the reason.
He notes, “It may be little, but what it represents is important.” “The start of something bigger.”
Brenda is adamant that Pollard’s symptoms might not manifest for some time. “Let’s avoid causing difficulties,” she advises astutely.
Then she tells him something that makes him happy: Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) has extended an invitation to Pollard and Brenda to spend Christmas Day with her and Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant). At last, there’s something that makes him grin.
Of However, once Leyla learns of Jacob and Victoria’s (Isabel Hodgins) romance, her preparations for Christmas may be abandoned. And when Pollard realizes that he had a significant role in David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Theo’s absence from the town this Christmas—possibly permanently—he isn’t going to be feeling the joyous love for his grandchild.
But first, in this clip, Pollard and Brenda get to enjoy a beautiful moment when Sam (James Hooton) and Samson (Sam Hall) show up with a large bag of mistletoe. With Lydia (Karen Blick) away, Samson is telling his dad he’s going to find a Christmas job to help the family out. Meanwhile, Eric and Brenda are sharing a playful kiss beneath a mistletoe twig.
For the time being, Eric appears to be in a pleasant mood.
