As he becomes closer to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) once more in the run-up to Christmas on EastEnders, George Knight (Colin Salmon) is thinking about something.
Ever since Cindy came back to Walford, there has been tension in their relationship. Cindy has made a valiant effort to get back in touch with her children Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford), but George has occasionally found it difficult to accept Cindy’s intentions because, when she was with him, she was secretly Rose Knight and never said anything.
Next, knowing that their mother would be very touched by their decision, Gina and Anna choose to have Christmas lunch at Number 45 with Cindy and the Beales.
Cindy makes the covert decision to go over to the pub where George is working alone to get ready for Keanu (Danny Walters) and Sharon’s (Letitia Dean) wedding reception in the hopes that he’ll accept her offer of a drink.
Later, when Cindy and George visit Number 45, Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) get envious.
George, sensing Elaine’s distress, decides to act quickly and tells a falsehood to his partner about having made travel arrangements to a hotel.
Elaine, not realizing that George is lying, decides to head back inside the bar to get some things she needs for the night, but George talks her out of it as they unwittingly stay out of the mayhem inside.
However, what is George’s situation?
Is he lying to Elaine because he is feeling guilty about his rekindled affections for Cindy?
