In the most recent episodes of Coronation Street, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has created quite a commotion within the Platt family since she chose to read the journal of her son Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), a serial murderer.
After poring over the papers, Jack P Shepherd’s character David Platt made an important discovery concerning his sister Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), which he promptly revealed and created a stir.
Sarah didn’t waste any time in confronting her mother Gail Platt (Helen Worth) about what David had said, inquiring as to if it was true that she hadn’t known her father’s identity during her pregnancy.
The thing that really infuriated Sarah was that, not so long before, she had been in a similar situation, and Gail had remained silent.
Audrey went to the Kabin with Stephen’s journal and herself while Gail, Sarah, and David were arguing. There, she unwittingly gave Jenny Connor and Carla Barlow (Sally Ann Matthews and Alison King) a new assignment.
On Stephen’s computer, Jenny had discovered something earlier in the episode. There, she discovered a password-protected file that had been accessed for the final time shortly before he had moved the funds from the Underworld account.
Jenny showed Carla her research because she had a sneaking sensation that the paper could have information regarding the location of the money. Carla insisted that they contact the police right now.
Sadly, despite her iconic status, DS Swain (Vicky Myers) was unable to do anything with it, thus Jenny and Carla were forced to return to their first attempts to decipher the password.
Now for Audrey and Stephen’s journal.
Carla tried to grab a sneak peak but was soon exposed as Audrey purchased herself a box of chocolates and talked about the turmoil that Stephen’s small book had produced.
Audrey said, unfazed, that she would read the journal through in private, even though she knew Gail would probably burn it if she ever saw it again.
After Audrey departed, Carla mentioned seeing lists in the book, and since Jenny was convinced that the lists would include Stephen’s passwords, they realized they needed to obtain the book.
Will they succeed, or will the money from the Underworld vanish forever?
