Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) has been feeling trapped ever since he killed Todd Boyce’s character, Stephen Reid, in Coronation Street.
Back in October, Peter struck Stephen with his vehicle. Peter is now making an effort to lead a regular life after learning he won’t be imprisoned; nevertheless, it’s difficult because he keeps hearing reminders that he killed a guy and that drinking will make his feelings go unnoticed.
In the episode that aired on Monday, December 18, Peter confided in Tim (Joe Duttine) about his mental health.
In the hot tub, Peter expressed his belief that nothing or someone will ever stop reminding him that he killed Stephen everywhere he goes in Weatherfield.
After thereafter, Peter voiced his worries on the state of his relationship with Allison King’s character, Carla. Unaware of the severity of Peter’s issues, Tim attempted to offer support by pointing out that every married couple goes through ups and downs and that they would probably work things out in due course.
When Carla abruptly ended their evening together to head to the factory, Peter received yet another indication at home that things had changed between them.
In a conversation with Simon (Alex Bain), Peter said that his life was on the cobbles and that he didn’t need a vacation in the Mediterranean. However, as soon as Simon departed, Peter’s smile vanished, demonstrating that Weatherfield is the last place he wants to be right now.
In another scene, once Daniel (Rob Mallard) found out that Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) had shared a bed, rumors began to circulate that he was heading to Glasgow.
Before Ryan and Daisy’s secret was revealed, Crystal (Erin Austen) had come back and suggested that Ryan move to Glasgow to live with her.
Ryan felt he had little reason to stay and accepted Crystal’s proposal, believing his new gym position would be wrecked by Daniel and Daisy’s purported lack of want to be with him.
Following a casual remark from Crystal, Debbie (Sue Devaney) hurried over to the apartment to visit Ryan.
Debbie confided in her friend that he clearly still has feelings for Daisy, even if he hardly knows Crystal. Ryan rejected her attempts to convey to him that, in essence, he is fleeing his difficulties by packing his belongings.
Ryan dismissed Debbie’s worries, stating he will travel regardless of what other people think since he is anxious for a new beginning.
We are aware that Peter Barlow will be leaving Coronation Street during the holiday season, as has been anticipated for some time.
Ryan, on the other hand, will be leaving the cobbles in future episodes in preparation for a new life with Crystal, even if we weren’t informed about his departure beforehand.
Could he, however, come back?
