in Thursday, December 21, Denise Fox, who plays Diane Parish in EastEnders, broke down in tears when Jack Branning, played by Scott Maslen, threatened her with violence and acted aggressively.
Jack has been making a lot of effort to patch things up with his wife Denise, who is aware of his one-night affair, after he destroyed his marriage earlier this month by having an affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
Though she finally decided against it, Denise found it difficult to go past the fact that Jack had not only cheated on her but also caused her a great deal of distress by nearly having sex with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
The fact that Stacey was the woman he slept with made things even more confusing because, as Charli’s grandma, they will always be connected because of this.
As Denise brought up the one-night stand once more and revealed that she knew Stacey was the other lady, Jack quickly labeled the entire scenario as “messy.” Denise, who was horrified and referred to him as a “cliche,” made the decision to pack up and leave Jack after receiving some advise from Yolande Truman (Angela Wynter) and Kim (Tameka Empson).
But when Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) learned that Denise was leaving, she found it difficult to accept the news and begged her stepmother to stay. Denise said that she had to leave, but she gave Amy her word that she would be there across the street. However, Amy abruptly left, leaving Jack furious with Denise for abandoning her when Amy needed them the most. After starting their search for Amy, the ex-couple discovered her in the park, where she confessed to almost hurting herself.
After Denise received both barrels from Jack, there were heated moments in which he became extremely abusive, forbidding his wife from leaving the family home and flinging her luggage and its contents all over the kitchen floor in an explosive rage.
Shocked by his outburst, Denise said she was scared of Jack as she sobbed and picked up a garment off the floor—the green dress she wears in the Christmas episode, to be exact.
Has Jack sealed his own fate, having reached a new low in his aggressive and nasty behavior? Might he turn out to be the Christmas victim after all?
The detective, who might be among the seven men to die on Christmas Day, hasn’t done anything to deserve to die, but could this most recent outburst have altered that?
On Friday, December 22 at 7:30 p.m., EastEnders airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
