Spoilers for EastEnders’ Boxing Day (December 26) episode are included below. You may watch the episode on BBC iPlayer right now.
After Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) was brutally murdered by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in the Christmas special on EastEnders, The Six had a crucial choice to make in the next episode.
There was confusion galore as everyone focused on Linda, who was crying uncontrollably and apologizing excessively for what she had done, saying that she had only been attempting to save Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Sharon broke down in tears, devastated by the loss of her former fiancé, even if Keanu nearly choked her to death.
Terrified by what she’d done, Linda withdrew to the restroom. Meanwhile, Kellie Bright produced some of her best work to date as the Queen Vic landlady tried to comprehend what she had done and assured her that she would give herself in.
But Sharon insisted she would never do that, thanking Linda for saving her life when it was needed.
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) disagreed on the best course of action. Stacey wanted to get away, but Kathy was eager to call the police. Denise criticized both women’s strategies.
The matriarchs finally made the decision to remain together and devise a strategy to make sure that none of them were connected to the crime, despite their initial disagreement.
This required getting rid of the body.
Keeping in mind that Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), who has experience with murder cover-ups, was available to provide guidance on how to emotionally distance oneself from the circumstance, The Six quickly devised a strategy.
While Stacey and Denise went and got something to wrap the body in, Linda wept and disposed of the weapon that had killed Keanu.
Suki placed Keanu’s handprint on the broken champagne bottle that Denise had used to hit Nish (Navin Chowdhry), who was lying on the bar floor barely conscious.
The goal was to make it appear as though Nish and Keanu got into a fight, with Keanu—who should ideally be reported missing—being held accountable for Nish’s wounds.
The Six then, in unsettling images, covered Keanu’s body with a rug and carefully carried him to the cafe’s ruins, where a large hole in the middle of the structure served as the ideal location for the body’s interment.
The strategy was by no means perfect, and each of the women found it difficult to accept what they had done. But Sharon stood up to provide moral support, reassuring other women that they are capable of succeeding.
Will they succeed in committing murder, though?
Will Nish survive to fight another day, too? And will Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley), who was inebriated while he was prowling the Square, end up becoming a liability?
Monday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer is when EastEnders airs.
