Star of Coronation Street Channique Sterling-Brown disclosed that she tried out for a different ITV soap opera.
The 26-year-old Dee-Dee Bailey actor made her debut last year and quickly became well-liked by both fans and other cast members. She has a bright and vivacious personality.
She has made a name for herself as one of the attorneys in Weatherfield, the criminal hub.
However, were you aware that she was very almost starring in Emmerdale?
The Emmerdale team, which included Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle), Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy Wyatt), and Kevin Mathurin (Charles Anderson), faced up against the Corrie squad in this year’s Big Soap Quiz 2023, which featured Channique, Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt), and Tony Maudsley (George Shuttleworth).
The actress confirmed that Channique tried out for the part of Naomi Walters, Mathurin’s character’s daughter, when host Stephen Mulhern made a joke about her almost being on the rival serial opera.
“I might have been your kid, Kevin,” she said to the actor from Emmerdale.
Channique, whose first scenes aired the previous year, was overjoyed to win the Best Newcomer award at the event.
“I am really appreciative,” she exclaimed.
“I was not expecting to walk away with this,” I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, when you join the cast the same year Jodie Prenger [who portrays Glenda Shuttleworth] does! It’s really appreciated; it means a lot to me.
She said, reflecting on her experience on the program thus far, “I adore working with the Baileys.” In addition to loving to screw around and be annoying siblings, I also really enjoy working on the MND storyline and can’t wait for Billy and Paul’s wedding. I also really enjoyed the storyline about the Sarah/Damon affair and had a great time working with Tina, Sam, and Ciaran Griffiths. Ryan Russell plays Dee-Dee’s brother, Michael.
